When you don’t have a penis, it can be tricky to pee standing up. In this video I use the pStyle to help me out!
I should also note that I’m focusing on female urination devices from a cisgender female perspective. It’s really awesome to see products that function as soft packs and urination devices like the Mango come onto the market as well. When I go into a bathroom, I have the privilege of not worrying whether or not I will face violence for being “in the wrong place.” My concerns with being able to pee standing up are about convenience. This write up comes from my perspective as a cisgender woman. Your mileage may vary for a lot of reasons. For something that everyone has to do there sure is a lot of trouble on the issue of peeing. Pissing around the wrong people can land some people in the middle of undeserved and hateful violence, other people might be ticketed by the police and potentially face sex offender charges.
The pStyle has a different shape than other stand-to-pee devices like the GoGirl, the P EZ by Lady Elegance, or the Whiz Freedom which have more of a funnel shape. Some people really like the funnel style but a lot of times my need to pee standing up seems to coincide with drinking cheap beer. If you have to pee like a racehorse, the funnel just might overflow. However, these devices are sometimes a little smaller and easier to carry around.
If you don’t plan to do a lot of vertical pissing but have some worries about an upcoming port-o-potty situation then disposable might be the way to go
because you can throw it away without figuring out what to do with a urine soaked piece of plastic. The P Mate comes in a set of five and the Urifemme can come in much larger boxes.
I found the pStyle website to be welcoming and it comes to you from the same people who make the Diva Cup for menstruation.
I always appreciate video over those half-assed written instructions! What I’m curious about though – is there any PTS device that allows a cisfemale to use it without exposing her ass? I’m thinking not only in semi-public “i gotta GO” situations, but also could a trans man use this in a men’s restroom in any way at a urinal if there’s dividers up without looking “out of place”?
Hi Dangerous Lilly, and thanks for your input!
I hear good things about the Mango for trans men, because it also functions as a soft pack and doesn’t look out of place in a urinal. I believe that the pStyle can be used by a ciswoman through the fly of her pants, but only if she is confident that she won’t spill. Regardless of which device you choose I recommend practicing at home before using it on the go, unless you have a spare pair of pants handy. I’ve heard some good reviews of all of these products, but by all accounts it takes some experience to be able to use them consistently without peeing on yourself. To be fair, it took me several years to learn how to do this with my penis.
